Divorce is on the rise among adults 50 and older. The Philadelphia Inquirer recently featured the Second Saturdays workshops for seniors, and those approaching retirement, held by experts from Collaborative Law Professionals of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
“We present alternatives to court, and people feel relief and empowered. We run the gamut of people. Some women come who are already litigating and have attorneys. But they feel like they don’t know what’s going on — which is shocking to me,” explains collaborative divorce specialist Jean Biesecker of Bala Cynwyd.
The mediation and collaborative divorce process allows the divorce to be resolved in a year or less, and at significantly lower expense, than heading to court.
